THE VEGGIES4MYHEART PROJECT: A LONGITUDINAL STUDY TO PROMOTE PRESCHOOLERS’ VEGETABLE

ciTechCare participated in the RUN-EU Student Research Colloquium 2025, held on February 18–19 at the Technological University of the Shannon in Limerick, Ireland. At this event, research fellow Rita Novo delivered an oral presentation entitled “The Veggies4MyHeart Project: A longitudinal study to promote preschoolers’ vegetable knowledge and consumption”, highlighting the results achieved since the beginning of the project.
The Leiria Local Health Unit Research Center celebrated its 10th anniversary, together with ciTechCare, which celebrated its 5th anniversary. The “Research, Innovation, and Sustainability in Health” event occurred on the 13th and 14th of May in the Auditorium of the School of Health Sciences – Polytechnic of Leiria. During this event, an oral communication entitled “Food education project to promote the consumption of vegetables in preschool children” was presented, highlighting the results obtained since the project’s inception.
Parental Perception of the Nutritional Status of Pre-School Children – Project Veggies4Myheart

The Veggies4myHeart Team presented, at the 2nd Pediatrics Congress at Hospital da Luz, the Oral Communication “Parents’ Perception of the Nutritional Status of Pre-School Children – Veggies4myHeart Project”.
The presentation aimed to compare parents’ perceptions regarding the nutritional status of their children with the anthropometric measurements reported by the parents.
The AGILidades project aims to design motor skills and mental agility games of different difficulty levels, organized last Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Healthy Longevity Conference – the urgency for innovation.
The Veggies4myHeart project was invited to present its journey since its creation, highlighting the results obtained in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 academic years.
The Veggies4myHeart project was represented by its Principal Investigator, Cátia Braga-Pontes.

At the 2nd Congress of the Network of Higher Education Institutions for the Safeguard of the Mediterranean Diet/2nd International Conference on Mediterranean Diet and Gastronomy, held in Évora, the Veggies4myHeart Team presented the Oral Communication “Impact of the Veggies4myHeart Project on the Consumption of Vegetables in Preschool Age – Academic Year 2022/23”.
The presentation focused on the results relating to the consumption of vegetables in preschool children, resulting from the Veggies4myHeart 2022/23 Project Edition.

At the XXII Nutrition and Food Congress, the Veggies4myHeart Team presented the Oral Communication “Food Neophobia And The Willingness To Try Vegetables In Preschool Children – Veggies4Myheart Project”.
The communication focused on the association between the desire to try vegetables and food neophobia in preschool children, resulting from the Veggies4myHeart 2021/22 Project Edition.
