The Veggies4MyHeart project was present at the XXIV Nutrition and Food Congress, organized by the Portuguese Nutrition Association, which took place on May 8–9, 2025, in Braga, Portugal. During the event, the poster entitled “Influence of Sociodemographic and Anthropometric Factors on Knowledge, Willingness to Try, and Consumption of Vegetables in Preschool Children: Results from the Veggies4MyHeart Project” was presented, highlighting the role of children’s sociodemographic factors—namely sex, age, and nutritional status—in their knowledge, willingness to try, and consumption of vegetables.

The Veggies4MyHeart project participated in the 3rd edition of the Pediatrics Congress of Hospital da Luz, held on February 6–7, 2025, in Lisbon, Portugal. During the event, the poster entitled “Sociodemographic Factors and Children’s Eating Behavior: A Cross-Sectional Study” was presented, highlighting the role of parental sociodemographic factors—namely sex, educational level, and marital status—in shaping their children’s eating behavior. This participation was distinguished with the award for Best Scientific Poster.

The Veggies4MyHeart project participated at the 17th edition of the European Public Health Conference (EPHC), held from 12 to 15 November 2024, in Lisbon, Portugal. During the event, the poster entitled “Veggies4MyHeart – An Educational Project to Promote Vegetable Knowledge and Consumption Among Preschool Children” was presented, showcasing the results of the educational intervention in improving vegetable knowledge and consumption among preschool-aged children. This participation highlighted the impact of innovative pedagogical strategies on fostering healthy eating habits and reinforced the role of nutrition education in the context of child public health.

The Veggies4myHeart Project participated in the XXIII edition of the Nutrition and Food Congress, which took place on the 16th and 17th of May 2024 at the Lisbon Congress Center.

The project team was present, having presented the poster entitled “Assessment of the Effectiveness of Pedagogical Tools on Vegetable Consumption Among Preschool Children: Results of the Veggies4Myheart Project”.

The poster presented by Joana Edra, 4th year student of the Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition, addressed the results obtained through different educational materials in the 2023/24 edition.

The Veggies4myHeart Project crossed borders and participated in the “Conference: Prevention of Childhood Obesity” from October 30 to November 3, 2023, in Hillerød, Denmark. The project team was proudly represented by Nutritionist and Principal Researcher Cátia Braga-Pontes, who presented the poster entitled “Impact of the Veggies4myHeart Project on Preschoolers’ Willingness to Try Vegetables”.

The poster presented by Cátia Braga-Pontes highlighted the project’s positive influence on children’s willingness to try vegetables, playing a vital role in preventing childhood obesity.

The Relationship Between Food Preferences And Willingness To Try Vegetables

The Veggies4myHeart Project was at the 2nd European Congress of Maternal and Child Nutrition, held at the Fundação Dr. António Cupertino de Miranda in Porto on the 20th and 21st of October 2023. The poster entitled “The Relationship Between Food Preferences and Willingness to Try Vegetables” was presented by the nutritionist and principal researcher of the project, Cátia Braga-Pontes.

The results indicated that the desire to try vegetables correlates with the food preferences reported by parents.

From the 5th to the 8th of September 2023, the XLI Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE)/XVIII Congress of the Portuguese Association of Epidemiology (APE) took place in Porto.

The Veggies4myHeart project participated with the poster “Impact of the Veggies4Myheart Project on the Knowledge and Consumption of Vegetables in Preschool Age”, presented by the Team’s Researcher, Dr. Sara Simões-Dias.

Participation in the congress contributed to further enriching the project. Interaction with other experts and sharing knowledge contribute to new perspectives, which allow Veggies4myHeart to be expanded, enabling the promotion of healthy habits in preschool children.
